Colombo 04 is Bambalapitiya: An arty hub populated by colourful high-rise buildings mixed with antique houses hidden down side alleys. It is a shopping paradise and has also become the official central hub for IT wizards. There are old haunts and hidden treasures in this area, what once used to be a snake and cashew tree infested jungle.
With its myriad of back streets there is plenty to explore within this area. From the old British Bamba Railway Station at a critical juncture on Marine Drive shouldering the Indian Ocean, to the Barefoot Gallery, the neighbourhood partly borders Colpetty and is a place full of vibrant modicums of art and urban bohemian aura.
